A WORD FROM OUR COO
Our business over the last 37 years has always been true to its values, one of which is to do good business, while also doing good in the world around us. As a family company with a young workforce, upholding ethical practices is part of our DNA; it is important for us to take care of our people, our customers, and of course the world we live in. Today’s changing retail landscape poses an exciting challenge for us as we continue to become more sustainable. Now, more than ever, companies can do good and do well at the same time, and people throughout our organization are inspired by that. Our journey is ongoing, and we understand that it will take everyone’s contribution to make a difference. We will keep working to make the Ardene Collective a systematic part of our organization from end to end. Giving back has always been a fundamental company value at Ardene, so we feel confident that these efforts will continue to be welcomed with open arms.
A WORD FROM OUR COO
Our greenhouse gas mapping has officially been certified through Climate Smart. We measured all our CO2 emissions – from head office, to stores, and shipping – to find out where we stand. Now it’s our responsibility to adhere to the plan, so we can start reducing our GHG emissions.
SUPPLY CHAIN ACCOUNTABILITY
We will use tools, such as the HIGG index, through our various partnerships as a way to monitor the environmental impact of our facilities. Engaging our supply chain upstream will increase vendor accountability and provide us with an exponential opportunity for positive climate impact.
We continue our process of product and packaging innovation, whether in the fabrics and material choices we make or the way we package goods. Innovation will not only help us reduce waste and overall carbon footprint, but will allow us to share new and exciting products with customers.
SHARING THE MESSAGE
We are sharing knowledge throughout our organization, educating our teams and partners, and continuing to integrate sustainability into all of Ardene’s processes. Sharing the message will ensure that everyone is working with the same end goal in mind, and will allow us to continue making innovations well into the future.
MAKING THE CHANGE AT HOME
Each change in our business, no matter which part, is being considered for its environmental and social impact. Our employees support Ardene’s sustainability goals, and understand that the best starting point for cultural shifts is at home.
On top of our GHG, supply chain and product, goals, we continue to make changes within our offices and stores. These initiatives range from simple projects like eliminating single use plastic and building a community garden, to local sustainability ambassador programs. We choose to lead by example while empowering our workforce to take leadership roles as well. We are all learning from each other.
The Ardene Collective is an ongoing journey. In the short term, Ardene will continue with new and existing initiatives, the largest being its greenhouse gas emissions mapping and reduction, and efforts in supply chain accountability, product innovation, and education.
Into the future, we foresee a closed loop through increased upcycling initiatives, more sustainable building initiatives, and more.
